The future of mobility took centre stage at the Automotive Summit, where industry leaders, innovators, and technology experts gathered to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the automotive sector. As part of the event, Critical TechWorks contributed to the conversation by sharing its vision for the next generation of digital vehicles and the growing role of software in transforming the driving experience.

Hosted by OPCO in collaboration with Inova-Ria and Mobinov, the summit focused on the theme "Estratégia, Desafios e Mercados – Caminhos do Setor Automóvel e Mobilidade", creating a forum for collaboration, innovation, and discussions around the future competitiveness of the automotive industry.

Representing Critical TechWorks, Cluster Heads Nuno Carreiró Monteiro and Daniel Rodrigues delivered the session "Bringing Innovation to Digital Cars". The presentation explored how software is becoming a defining element of modern vehicles, enabling more intelligent, connected, and personalised mobility experiences.

Reflecting on the event, Nuno Carreiró Monteiro highlighted the importance of understanding the industry's evolving landscape while sharing Critical TechWorks' perspective on the future:

"It was a very interesting event in the sense that it gave us a perspective on the main challenges of the sector in Portugal, which is mostly composed of Tier 1 suppliers to OEMs such as BMW. It also allowed us to contribute to the discussion by sharing what Critical TechWorks is and our vision for the future of the industry, particularly regarding Software-Defined Vehicles such as Neue Klasse."

The discussion also addressed the increasing pace of change across the global automotive market. Daniel Rodrigues highlighted how digital innovation is becoming a key differentiator as companies adapt to new technologies and rising international competition.

"The Automotive Summit gave interesting insights on the challenges in the auto industry, showcasing how Portuguese companies are actively contributing to vehicle quality and digital innovation across hardware, software, and components. We presented the Critical TechWorks contribution and emphasised how we are committed to taking that challenge, driving quality and autonomy as the key fuel to engineer our future."
